Apply for the Summit County Clerk Position
Summit County Democratic Party to Select Replacement for County Clerk at the Nominating Convention on April 7, 2026
The Summit County Democratic Party will convene at its nominating convention at 6 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Park City High School to select a Democratic nominee to fill the vacancy in the office of Summit County Clerk.
The vacancy was created by the resignation of Summit County Clerk Eve Furse. Under Utah law, the Summit County Democratic Party has 30 days to submit a nominee to the Summit County Council, which will appoint a replacement to serve the remainder of the term.
Call for Candidates
The Party invites qualified Democratic candidates to apply. To be considered, applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Submissions should be emailed to Anne Kirvan, Party Chair, at chair@scdems.org.
Candidates are encouraged to review all requirements and submit materials early to ensure full consideration.
Basic Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must meet the legal qualifications for County Clerk under Utah Code, including:
U.S. citizenship and Summit County voter registration
Residency in Summit County for at least one year prior to appointment
Ability to fulfill the statutory duties of County Clerk, including oversight of elections, records, and financial administration
Compliance with all applicable state and local requirements
Candidates will also be asked to provide a resume and photo to share with convention delegates.

Public Access
The convention is open to the public. Accredited delegates of the Summit County Democratic Party will cast votes to select the nominee.
